bitly

Seriously. Everybody, Get the Bit.ly Firefox Extention. You'll become clairvoyant.

You see? In the same period of time, with 1/3 the number of followers, I personally get double the number clicks. I would not have guessed that the NYT is so ineffective at driving business without bitly. Test your own CTR effectiveness. And @journik to talk about how I get so many people who read my blog.
The bit.ly firefox addon is like x-ray vision goggles that can see through lead.
And message me @journik to talk about your stuff.

How much traffic does a RT create? What is the CTR from a Twitter Tweet? What is my RT CTR?

I just Tweeted, "How much traffic does a RT create? What is the CTR from a Twitter Tweet? What is my RT CTR?"

And it created 4 RTs. Below, is who and how much traffic each retweeted. Three of them are my own accounts o_O

Probably the most important observation is that

1. You can only get this kind of visibility with http://Bit.ly ... You cannot see this resolution of data with Google Analytics because it does not offer real time cause and effect or CTR ROI.

What this means is that if you develop a relationship with your 100 followers, it is the same as if you had 200 strangers following you.

2. Your CTR is equally proportional to your follower's trust and mass
In otherwords, I have 5,000 followers in my @journik account. And 1,000 in my @journikalt account. So the @journikalt CTCount is a not surprising 1/5 of the @journik account. The surprising part is that my @yogameditation account has more followers than my @journikalt account and yet delivered less CTs (click throughs or page views from the link).

What this means is that if you develop a relationship with your 100 followers, it is the same as if you had 200 strangers following you.

How to make a link that takes up no space (except the domain name)

THIS is how. Pardon the typo

(the smallest twitter link) - memorable to. Maximizes click throughs

Branding. It takes 9 MEMORABLE impressions to make one click thru. But do your followers remember you at all?

Think back. When's the first time you clicked on someone's link? It was probably the ninth time you REMEMBER seeing that same url. Trouble with twitter is that you have to shorten your url. It dramatically cuts down the memorability of you.

PS. if you want someone to pass on, RT, or come back to your "warm apple pie" url, what's easier to remember: bit.ly/k3uhK or blogsterousity.com/12/08/the-most-fantastic-thing-you-ve-ever-let-melt-in-your-mouth.aspx or http://bit.ly/hotpie

To raise memorability, you've got to use your @address. You've doubtless seen that I rarely use a shortened url where I have space to use my whole http://journik.posterous.com address.

This is where the trouble comes in. You need to leave atleast your @name's character space plus 4 more spaces for RT mileage. But you need to maintain visibility of your @brand.

I'm solving both problems by using a http://bit.ly vanity url: http://bit.ly/journik. You should too. You'll see your CTR just about double. Mine did. (Thx @blogbrevity!)
