NOT SEO: The Fastest Way to Get to Page One of Google You'd Never Think Of...

How to Get to Page One of Google in Less Than 15 Minutes Under Any Search Term

Media_httpamericandre_shffp

You're not going to like this. You're not going to like this quasi SEO SEM how-to blog post about how to get to page one of Google under any search term within 15 minutes not because it's disappointing. This technique is 100% appointing. This technique will make you do a face-palm and say to yourself, "Duh! Why didn't I think of this!"

I personally discovered this technique because I was on the other side of the fence. I was in a position where I had the #1 spot in Google under "wireless internet" and under "wifi router." My only problem is that I had no way of monetizing the massive traffic I got under these terms.

In other words, if you want to get to page one of Google under any search term in less than 15 minutes, do a search for that term. Click on every link on page one. Find the sites that have no apparent method of monetization. You're probably going to find a ton of outdates websites and blogs that haven't been updated in years. You see where we are going?

Instead of trying to climb the ladder to the top of Google...

Contact the owners of these sites. Instead of trying to climb the ladder to the top of Google. Take those pairs of shoes that are abandoned on the stairway.

Google does it. Instead of building a hardware engineering team to compete with Apple, they just bought Motorola. Try it. you'd be surprised how cheaply you can acquire a high ranking website in Google right after the rent is due.

Postscript:

If you can't afford to buy a site or a blog that's on page one... just buy several that are on pages 2-5. Then rewrite the content on those pages to point to the highest ranking page. The cumulitive rank power from the sites on pages 2-5 of a Google result will push that one site on page 2 up to page one. If you need help doing any of this... Google SEO / Adwords Conversion Rates Revealed Like A Pickup Artist

I don't know if you realize this but recently, a loyal reader of this http://sparkah.com blog asked how I pick my topics. I told him, I don't pick em at all. I blog answers to questions I get from my prospective clients and clients. And this one came up 3 times in one day. So out of pure laziness, so that I don't have to keep repeating myself here it is.

What's the conversion rate of traffic from Google SEO and Adwords?

But in reality, the question doesn't come in this form. The question invariably comes to me as, "Well, I just talked to this one Google SEO expert and he said that after I pay him his retainer for 6-8 months, he will get me on page one of Google. Then he said, 'as soon as you land on page one of Google, you'll get about 20,000-30,000' hits.' And he said I;d get a 8% conversion rate."

First of all, excuse me while I run to my local airport so that I can find a barf bag.

In nearly 20 years of working with Global web companies and meeting with the Computer Science PhDs at Google, I've never seen a conversion rate higher than 0.8%. The average, a healthy average is about 0.4% conversion.

Secondly, If you run a Google adwords PPC campaign, you know that each click is a license to print money FOR GOOGLE. They charge you anywhere from $1 to $15 per click for moderate to high demand terms. Keyword terms like "Plastic Surgeon Beverly Hills" can cost $70-$100 per click. That's per click!

So if some random SEO Expert claims he can get you 20,000 clicks a day, he's claiming to be able to give you $20,000 to $50,000 a month of traffic on the low end!

If he really could do that, then instead of charging you $2000 a month for his retainer, why wouldn't he just do it for himself and put up a big billboard banner ad that says, "YOUR AD HERE." And only charge half of what Google Adwords would charge... Then he'd make $10,000 to $25,000 instead of trying to win your piddly $2,000 a month.

So how do professional web marketing firms solve this problem? How do we overcome the real 0.4% conversion rate? How do we charge our clients their hard earned money while making them happy to pay us? See http://sparkah.com/marketing.php

The next part of the blog post is for clients only. Included in the next CLIENTS ONLY Blog Post:

a) How many people globally / nation wide / locally actually Google search the key words you want to own in Google Page One? (it's surprising less than you'd think)

b) How many people click on the first result? (it's surprisingly lower too)

c) How many people click on a result "under the fold" (again... ditto)

d) Of the people who do click through to your site, what percentage of them actually convert into clients?

e) How do we resolve these low SEO numbers (Google has lost a lot of traffic/influence over the years)?

SEO Secrets: DIGG vs Reddit and nofollow hell that kills your backlinks

Media_httpfarm4static_nabje

Have you ever wondered why your blog, ecommerce website, or web app doesn't show up in Google for anything remotely searchable? Basically, there are only two factors that count in getting you to page one of a Google search.

1. Number of linksĀ

2. Words used in those links.

So you think, "well, if I just get a ton of links and DIGGs from DIGG.com, I'll be flying up the ranks in Google!"

Nope. Doesn't work that way. There's a caveat. DIGG.com links are all NOFOLLOW. So are Youtube links. Google Groups too. So any links from these sites are totally useless. I really hope you're not paying a SEO guy money to do diddly squat. How do you spell "did-ly?"

How Google Determines and Ranks Your Relevancy

Personally, I think this graph, as reassuring and emboldening as it is, is totally bunk, (couple more commas, thrown in, for good measure).

Media_httpnetdnacopyb_xcvsg

Image via two sites I highly recommend following religiously if you are even remotely involved in web business or like cilantro: http://www.copyblogger.com/seo-copywriting-matter/ and http://www.seomoz.org/blog/perfecting-keyword-targeting-on-page-optimization

Here's why:

1. The wedges, "Anchor text" and "Link popularity" are exactly the same thing
Google bases PageRank based on external links (base! (one more thrown in for good measure)).

2. This is a SEO (search engine optimizers') poll -- NOT based on a Google engineer's leaked data
Let this be very clear. This chart is built on the OPINIONS of SEO Expert Ninjas

3. Matt Cutts is reaching for a muscle relaxant due stomach cramping from laughing so hard at #2 (above)

4. Wedge "Traffic + CTR data" are exactly the same thing -- WRONG.
Google measures repeat CTR from THEIR pages not YOUR server traffic. Google doesn't care how much traffic you get. It bears ZERO weight on relevancy of your page to search query. Think logically. If your stomach Googled "hamburger," would you rather get a McDonald's or an In-N-Out? McD's gets far more traffic in their drive thrus but the QUALITY of the result is what matters to Google.

5. Meta Tags!
I know, the graphic does not cite meta-tags and it shouldn't. Because, to the credit of the graphic and those surveyed, meta tags went out with the Macarena. BUT you and I both know that these SEO Expert Ninja Samurais still use meta keyword tags. So not citing them as a 50% factor is totally disingenuous.

#6 BONUS: They left out the most import part...
Among Google's BIGGEST ranking factors is whether or not the content is on a page that is within a property OWNED by GOOGLE. It's true. Google would rather you visit a Youtube, Knol, or Blogspot web result. It's further true that they'd rather you visited a Google result that has a Google adwords ad on it. I mean, come on, wouldn't you?

Why SEO is a S.C.A.M

Media_httpwwwwordstreamcomimagesscreenshotsscamartistjpg_igxfjhrtlhgfihq

SEO is a SCAM.

In Twitter, I see even experienced bloggers talking about SEO and SEM and SEX (X = random variable).

This to me, is pitiful.

You may still think SEO is crucial to your marketing efforts... But at the speed of information technology evolution, Your concept is neanderthal.

How SEO Started -- And WHY it's useless today:

Way back when Infoseek, Excite, Altavista, DogPile, and Inktomi for Yahoo was coming out, I was in Silicon Valley and San Francisco. I worked with many of the PhDs who built these Gen 1 Search Engines.

How they created their Search Engine ranking formula (called an algorithm) was forward engineering. How Google and Bing do it now is 100 percent the opposite. Google and Bing today, REVERSE Engineer.

Let me explain. Back when Mozilla HDP and Yahoo's Directory Project were launched, they were launched because all the algorithm based engines "sucked hairy balls" (Stanford PhD Technical Term -- You may have to use Wolfram Alpha to decode it). This is because:

1. Web Indexing Spiders Sucked.

2. Data Storage of Indexed Data was "Hella Expensive" (An MIT PhD Term. See above for explanation).

3. The entire internet was tiny. Even if you added up all the blogs -- both of 'em.

Since this was the case, it was impossible to get a comprehensive aka useful view of the internet. So, half of the PhD's in the "Valley" decided to just develop a human directory project (they Yang position In Daoism) and the other half of the Ying-Yang paradigm (this is the ONLY time ANYONE should use the word "paradigm") decided to just take a stab at best guessing an algorithm (the Yin position).

This is how Danny Sullivan's SearchEngineWatch.com came to be born. Danny collected marketing and ranking results from webmasters all over the world. He consulted to clients, reverse engineered every feeble algorithm, and now works from his pallacial OC oceanfront home. He earned it.

Back then, you COULD and SHOULD do SEO. All you had to do is make your site's keyword frequency and inbound links match Excite or Inktomi's (Yahoo's engine) expectations. Easy.

Now, Not So Mucho (just did an inspiring interview with IT Maven @jorgeavilam)!

They spider and measure your Gmail. They never delete a single email -- EVEN IF YOU DELETE AN EMAIL

Why SEO is BAD for Business

Now, Google has the entire frikkin internet graphed on one legal size page. They even have most every single business email conversation via Gmail. Yes. They spider and measure your Gmail. They never delete a single email -- EVEN IF YOU DELETE AN EMAIL (True Dat -- Cal Poly Phd speak).

Here's the big difference. Can I get a drum roll please?

Here's the big difference. Can I get a drum roll please?

Now, instead of guessing at how the bloguhsphere would link through to a relevant web url, Google simply reverse engineers the natural HUMAN linking patterns into their algorithm.

In other words, you cannot possibly, especially with a team of "SEO Experts" or "Social Media Experts," mimic the inbound linking fractility of the random public. You've all seen a fractal. Try to express that fractal in a calculus equation. YOU CAN'T. Give up!

So what do I do?

Simple.

How to Get to Page One of Google and Bing Today.

1.Make valuable content. Especially lists that people WILL NATURALLY LINK TO... like this:

2. Make all my Google Page One Pages a Youtube.
Google owns Youtube. Youtube is projectile bleeding money. Possibly a quarter to a half a billion dollars this year. So Google shows huge favoritism toward Youtube results. I know. I used to get thousands of uniques from google every hour from being #1 under "wireless internet." Now see:
http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&source=hp&q=money+karma&aq=f&oq=&aqi=g-m1 AND http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=super+antioxidants&aq=f&oq=&aqi= AND http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=astaxanthin&aq=f&oq=&aqi=g10

Peoples: THIS is a "Take-Away! Google even ranked Blogspot blogs higher than Wordpress (they own Blogspot -- Not Wordpress. Now that WP has more Adwords (owned by Google) Ads, Not so much)"

3. Talk About Famous People. They will link their powerful (High Page Rank) blogs to yours.
This is a side benefit of Interviewing people of influence

Am I wrong? - @Sparkah
